Looks like I'm not the only one disappointed/disgusted by Riddick, and for all the same reasons:

So, Kate Alexander, you just had to let readers know that the heroine of your WWII novel Friends and Enemies (1982) is pretty by having her older brother think on page 3 that if she weren't his sister, he'd find her superhot, and then having him go on to list her charms in his mind, which include "all the right curves." I knew it was supposed to be bad (and badly written), but...wow. Just wow. And this was allegedly written to show that Racism Is Bad?

OMFG. This literary - and I use that word loosely in this case - snark is the funniest thing I have seen on LJ in ages. Possible ever. In a really disturbing sort of way.
